EYFS Autumn activity inspiration

Here at Edna we have really enjoyed seeing the ways that our childminders, nurseries and preschools are using autumn as a theme to invite their young learners to play. Through using starting points of autumn treasure walks through the park, collecting conkers and leaves and looking at useful books, they have shown clever ways of engaging the children.

We have collected together some of the best Autumn EYFS ideas from some inspirational parents, childminders and nurseries on Instagram and Pinterest to help you create some autumnal magic with your little acorns!

Don't forget to checkout our blog post on Hygge in the early years for even more cozy autumnal inspiration.

If you have any other great ideas tag them with #ednaapp and you could be featured in our next roundup, the theme will be Christmas!

An autumn fairy small world!!! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ๐Ÿต๏ธ๐Ÿ‚ . We used the materials we gathered the other day from our nature walk to make us this beautiful small world as an invitation to play! . I took a big cardboard box and cut it in half, placed a thick Styrofoam inside and covered it with a green cloth. We used toothpicks wrapped with elastic bands to help make the wooden sticks and branches stand upright as trees and two terracotta pots decorated with pebbles to make the fairy house! We also made six little people with diy air clay (recipe by @imaginationtree ๐Ÿค—) which we decorated with our nature findings (inspired by @fairydustteaching ๐Ÿค—) . We had a very busy and creative afternoon but we also had time to play! Aliki had the idea, she was the master architect, the maker of three of the six little people and of course the script writer of our play!!! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿค—

Leaf Lanterns ๐Ÿ‚ This week, @the.silvan.reverie and @montessorifromtheheart have given us a leaf theme @tagfromtheheart, so we decided to create autumn lanterns. We have piles of leaves from our frequent autumn treasure walks, so M chose the smallest ones and glued them to the outside of these glass jars. We added tea lights, waited for dark, and hey presto! Autumnal leaf lanterns ๐Ÿ
